Dr Archa Fox completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2000, focusing on transcription factors in hematopoiesis, then moved to the UK for a post-doc with Angus Lamond at the University of Dundee.

Here she discovered novel nuclear bodies called ‘paraspeckles’. In 2006, she returned to Australia start her own group in Perth, first at the Western Australian Institute of Medical Research (now called the Harry Perkins Institute) and since the end of 2015 as an academic in the University of Western Australia.

Her research focuses on paraspeckles as model RNA-protein granules and investigates their role in different diseases such as cancer and neurodegeneration.
