Associate Professor Julie Atkin

Associate Professor Julie Atkin is internationally recognised as a leader in the role of cellular stress responses in motor neuron disease.  Her research has opened up promising novel therapeutic targets which she is investigating further.

Associate Professor Atkin previously led the motor neuron disease group at the Florey Neuroscience Institute and in September 2009 she established her own laboratory at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science.

Associate Professor Atkin recently moved to Macquarie University, Sydney, to the Motor Neuron Disease Research Centre to work alongside other prominent motor neuron disease researchers.
